2 killed in Aeronca 7BCM Champion plane crash during 'Candy Drop' at an event near Auburn, Wyoming

Auburn, Wyoming (KUTV) – 

Two men were killed when their small plane crashed near an event in Auburn, Wyoming.

The crash happened just before 7 p.m. Monday when Bard Lefevre, 22, and Chad Burton, 64, were flying the plane that had been dropping candy at the event, Lincoln County Sheriff’s officials said.

Sheriff’s officials confirmed the plane went down close to several homes but nobody other than the people in the plane was injured.

Both of the men who were killed are from Wyoming.

While investigators are not exactly sure what led up to the crash, the FAA and NTSB have been called and were responding to the scene Monday night.

The aircraft impacted rural terrain while maneuvering in Auburn, Wyoming. The airplane sustained substantial damage and the two occupants onboard received fatal injuries.
