CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (KTTC) --

The Lady of the Lake Boat Cruise in Clear Lake, Iowa caught fire this morning, with about 100 passengers aboard.  This is a paddle-wheel boat.

Guests from Oakwood Care Center and other passengers noticed smoke near the paddle on the boat during their morning tour.

The flames sparked when the exhaust from the generator started a wood column on fire.

The fire was put out quickly by co-owner Jon Berhow. He was the first one to notice smoke building up and used a fire extinguisher while the rest of the crew evacuated passengers.

Cleanup crews were busy today, getting the boat back up and running. The captain and the owner, Scott Munson, expect the Lady of the Lake to be cruising on along the shores of clear lake very soon.

"We've got the cleaning crews in, we've got the electricians in. We've already got a new generator and we're not sparing any expenses and we will hopefully have it up and running by tomorrow," Munson said.

Fortunately, no one was injured. The cruise schedule is expected to be back to normal by tomorrow.

The fire department says damages are estimated around $7,500.  The Lady of the Lake is expected to be opened back up in the next few days.
