WORTHINGTON, Pa. —

A man was injured Wednesday in a gas line explosion at a compression station in Armstrong County, according to Channel 11’s news partners at TribLIVE.

TribLIVE reported that the explosion occurred when the backhoe the injured worker was driving hit a high pressure gas line in the area of Fox Road in West Franklin Township (in the Worthington area).

Worthington-West Franklin Assistant Fire Chief Fred Neal told TribLIVE at 3 p.m. that the fire caused by the explosion was out and gas at the station had been turned off.

The backhoe driver was taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh for treatment of burns, Neal told TribLIVE. His name and condition were not released.
