MCCALMONT TOWNSHIP, PA



Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police responded to an ATV accident that occurred at 10:55 a.m. on July 26 in McCalmont Township. 


According to police, a 1995 Yamaha Warrior ATV, driven by Ernest Sharp, 57, DuBois, was traveling north on Graffius Avenue Extension behind a 1990 Yamaha Warrior ATV, driven by Stevion Sharp, 27, Punxsutawney, when Ernest Sharp ran into the back of the other ATV, causing both drivers to lose control of their ATVs. 


Both men were thrown off their ATVs, with the ATVs coming to rest off the east side of the roadway facing to the north. 


Ernest Sharp sustained major head injuries and was transported to Altoona Hospital. Stevion Sharp was not injured. 


McCalmont Township Volunteer Fire Company and Jefferson County EMS assisted at the scene. 


Ernest Sharp was charged through District Court 54-3-01.
