HANOVER COUNTY, Va. —

Officials said a fuel leak has been contained after a tractor-trailer carrying adult diapers jack-knifed on I-295 in Hanover County Sunday evening.

State police said the two-vehicle wreck happened along I-295 near the Mechancisville exit around 5:55 pm.

“A Buick traveling NB in the left lanes crossed all travel lanes to get off the exit, it was struck by a tractor-trailer that was unable to avoid causing the tractor-trailer to jack-knife over the guard rail,” Sgt. Steve Vick with the Virginia State Police said “The Buick went off onto the right shoulder.”

One person was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The interstate’s right lane and shoulder remained blocked as of 8:30 p.m.
