1 dead, 7 injured after a truck T-bones a minivan near Becker, Minnesota. The truck driver run a red light

BECKER, Minn. -

One person is dead and seven are dealing with various injuries after investigators say a driver ran a red light on Highway 10 near Becker Tuesday.

The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 10 and County Road 11. At this point it appears the driver of a 1998 Ford pickup ran a red light and t-boned a minivan. Authorities say the driver of the minivan was killed and six passengers were injured. The driver of the pickup was also injured.

"It is a relatively safe intersection, but when drivers make errors for whatever reason, bad things happen. crashes occur, and lives are changed," said State Patrol Lieutenant Paul Van Voorhis.

Van Voorhis says it could take 60 to 90 days for the investigation to wrap up, and then prosecutors will determine whether charges are filed in the crash. At this point investigators do not believe that alcohol was a factor in the fatal crash.

Highway 10 was closed for nearly 4 hours while the scene was cleared and the crash reconstructed.
