Woman, 41, killed in multi-vehicle crash in Washington Heights, Manhattan, NYC after a car run the red light



WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan 

A woman was killed after a multiple car collision in Washington Heights Monday morning.

Police say around 4:30 a.m., a 1998 Honda Accord ran a red light when it approached the intersection of West 157th St. and Amsterdam Avenue, striking a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The Honda then hit an unoccupied vehicle parked on Amsterdam Avenue.

Both the driver and the passenger of the Honda Accord were taken to Harlem Hospital. The passenger, a 41-year-old woman, was pronounced dead. The driver had minor injuries.

The driver of the second car was uninjured.

Police currently have the driver of the Honda Accord in custody where charges are pending.

Police have not released the identity of the victim pending family notification.
