Warning: Thousands of Train Collisions Occur Every Year: North Jersey Coast Line delayed after Long Branch collision with a tractor trailer truck

LONG BRANCH, NEW JERSEY

A tractor trailer was struck by a North Jersey Coast Line train Wednesday morning off the corner of Cedar Avenue and Railroad Street, police confirmed.

Officers are at the scene of the crash, where the trailer portion of the truck was hit at 7:30 a.m., said Lt. Frank Morey, the watch commander. Cedar Avenue was closed as police investigate the collision.

Morey said more details are not immediately available.

The North Jersey Coast Line is facing delays after the crash, according to the New Jersey Transit website. The 8:29 a.m. train from Long Branch is 20 minutes behind schedule. An earlier train was canceled after the truck collided with the train.
