Plumbing Contractor Killed At Golisano Children's Hospital in Rochester, NY When He Was Hit by Falling Pipe Fitting

A plumbing contractor is dead following an accident at Golisano Children's Hospital.

It was initially reported that the contractor died after suffering a medical injury on Tuesday. It is now being reported that the worker died after being hit by a metal pipe fitting he was working on.

Two other contractors were working nearby and were not injured.

A hospital spokesperson said in a statement, "We are deeply saddened by this news, and our hearts go out to the worker’s family and colleagues."

A University of Rochester spokesperson said the contractor was struck while working in a mechanical room not accessible to hospital staff and patients.
OSHA will be investigating further. 

The name of the contractor has not been released.
