BEAVER COUNTY, PA
A 30-year-old man riding an ATV was severely injured this
morning when he was struck by a train in Beaver County.
The man suffered a leg amputation in the impact with the
Norfolk Southern train, said Beaver County dispatch. The accident occurred at
6:44 a.m. in Homewood Borough, near Buttermilk Falls.
A helicopter evacuation was unsuccessful because of poor
weather conditions.
The man was then transported by ambulance to Allegheny
General Hospital.
Norfolk Southern police are investigating the incident.
