A Navigator Gas LPG tanker was badly damaged in a collision Monday with a containership in Indonesia’s Java Sea.

Photos show the Indonesian-flagged LPG carrier Navigator Aries with a large hole in its port side after the vessel collided with the Panama-flagged MV Leo Perdana.

The incident occurred early Monday off Gresik in Indonesia’s East Java Province shortly after the Navigator Aries departed the Port of Tanjung Perak in Surabaya, Indonesia.

Local reports say the LPG tanker suffered a five-meter hole to its port side and briefly caught fire, but the fire was brought under control by firefighting tugs.

The 199-meter Leo Perdana, which was inbound to Surabaya, was also damaged in the incident. AIS data showed the containerhship moored in sheltered waters off Surabaya as of 12:23 GMT.

There are no reports of injuries.

The 20,500 CBM, 159-meter Navigator Aries was built in 2008 and is owned by Navigator Gas.
