ODESSA, TEXAS

An explosion at an Odessa metal yard sparked a fire Wednesday morning.

It happened at Commercial Metal Company on west 2nd Street just before 10 Wednesday morning.

Odessa fire crews arrived on scene within minutes to put out the small blaze.

"One of the employees was using a propylene oxygen tank cutting unit to cut up some metal. Something happened to cause one of the hoses to release product and caught on fire," Capt. Jason Cotton with Odessa Fire and Rescue said.
No injuries were reported with the fire.

Operations resumed as normal within an hour of the blaze.
