OSCODA COUNTY, MICHIGAN

Two men are in the hospital after an explosion in Oscoda County Monday.  The incident happened near Mio on Cherry Creek Road around 5:30 p.m.

The sheriff's department says a 24-year-old man finished his yard work and pulled his lawn mower into the garage.

Shortly after shutting the mower off, it ignited some vapors and exploded.
The man, Kyle Wright, actually caught fire.

His father, Terry Wright, saw him and threw him into a nearby pond.

He then extinguished a small fire in the garage caused by the explosion.
Kyle received burns to a large portion of his body and is being treated at a downstate hospital.

His condition is listed as serious.

Terry also received injuries to his hands and arms.
