Portions of southern New Jersey were under a flash flood warning until late Saturday, the National Weather Service said.

The warning was in place until 11:30 p.m. for west central Atlantic, southeastern Gloucester and northeastern Cumberland counties, according to a weather service alert.

Doppler radar showed heavy rainfall across the area around 7:30 p.m., the weather service said. Two to three inches of rain already hit the impacted regions and more was expected through late Saturday.

Heavy rain and possible thunderstorms were expected across much of the state through late Saturday with periods of rain on Sunday.
