A 60-FOOT CRANE TIPPED OVER IN AUSTIN, TEXAS.

JUNE 10, 2015

AUSTIN, TEXAS

A 60-foot crane tipped over today at 1506 W 13th Street in downtown Austin, Texas.

According to AFD, the crane caused an estimated $3000 damage to a nearby awning.

Another crane was assisting in righting the crane.

13th Street was briefly closed to traffic, but has since re-opened. No one was hurt.
It seems the outriggers of the three axle truck crane were set up on a grass bank, and the ground simply cave in.  Possibly the outriggers were not properly extended and/or not properly set up to carry the load.
