1 MAN KILLED IN HIGH SPEED AND/OR RECKLESS MOTORCYCLE CRASH IN BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ

 JUNE 9, 2015

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ

Police say a man killed in a weekend motorcycle crash in Burlington Township was seen driving erratically before losing control of his bike.

Sean Coyle, 25, died after his 1998 Honda CBR veered over a curb on the right side of Mount Holly Road near Irick Road and crashed Sunday evening, police said.

The Collingswood resident was taken to Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, where he later died, police said.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Police said witnesses described Coyle driving erratically prior the crash, telling investigators that he had revved his engine aggressively, passed other vehicles on the road's shoulder, and held his handlebar with one hand while looking backward at cars behind him.

Video surveillance from a nearby business captured the crash, police said, but investigator's haven't been able to determine how fast Coyle was driving at the time.

It also isn't known yet whether he was suffering from a medical issue prior to the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.

For a few minutes of high speed adrenaline rush, this young man reached his final destination.  Hopefully other people will take notice and avoid the kind of behavior that eye-witnesses observed.

Darwin law at play here: survival of the fittest or demise of the reckless or stupid.  RIP.

A 25-year-old Collingswood man who died in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Route 541 in Burlington Township on Sunday evening was seen driving erratically and aggressively prior to the collision, police said Monday.

According to Burlington Township police, Sean Coyle was driving his 1998 Honda CBR motorcycle in the right lane of the roadway, traveling north, and had just passed the intersection with Irick Road when the crash occurred at about 5:14 p.m.

Crews from Endeavor Emergency Squad and Westampton Township Emergency Squad responded to the scene and after initial treatment, Coyle was transported to Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly where he later died.

Surveillance video from a nearby business showed Coyle was ahead of all traffic when his motorcycle drifted to the right and launched over a curb just before the T.G.I.Friday's restaurant, police said, adding they were not able to determine Coyle's speed by viewing the video.

Police also said they have not determined if a medical episode was involved in the crash, but that they had received reports from numerous motorists who reported Coyle was driving erratically, including revving his engine repeatedly, passing vehicles on the shoulder of the road and holding onto one handlebar while looking backward at traffic.

The crash remains under investigation by the department's Traffic Safety Unit, but police said they do not suspect any other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash, so they do not expect to file charges.

I've been riding for 33 years. Believe me, there is alot out there working against you. Why thumb your nose at the odds by riding like a reckless a-hole. The road is not a closed course where if you spill you hit the hay bails.

With these Japanese two-wheel rockets, it is hard for a young man to realize the difference between the "Quick and the Dead". It was not until I reached middle-aged that I realized that  it was the Devil grabbing at my a@@ and not my girlfriend when I opened it up on Rt. 22 at rush hour.

A motorcyclist driving dangerously aggressively. What. A. Shock.
see them weave in and out of traffic every day. Just a matter of time before they don't do it any more.

Most bikers are good folks and motor responsibly.
A few ride with a death wish.......which is granted sooner or later.

@time2decide More than a few. Maybe not quite the majority, but more than a few.

Stupid is as stupid does.

You can do everything right on a motorcycle and get yourself killed or maimed because there's so little margin for error...so why riders would take unnecessary risks on them is truly beyond me.  Young and naïve, maybe.  Didn't know enough to be afraid.  RIP.

Most motorcyclists are good people who are responsible riders and face a danger on the road that usually is behind the wheel of another car.  But, there are the few that ride recklessly and dangerously weaving through cars, zipping between lanes at a red light to get to the front, and sometimes even decide they're going to start pulling off some Evel Knievel moves on the road just because.  I've personally witnessed a guy on a Japanese bike on rt 95 in Pennsy on the way into NJ lay back on his bike with his hands behind his head and his feet crossed on top of the handlebars like he was laying on a hammock while doing 65 mph down the highway.  It's dangerous enough for somebody on a bike to ride responsibly, trying to tempt death on the road on 2 wheels while being reckless is just inviting tragedy.

@Ted Striker One of the problems is new inexperienced riders buy bikes with capabilities well beyond their own. then they wind up in an accident.  Even today's 600 cc can hit well over 130 with no effort at all.
