MAY 28, 2015

MARATHON, NEW YORK

Eight train cars derailed on East Main Street in Marathon at around 7:00 Thursday morning, just after the track crossing on East Main Street.

No one was hurt in the accident, and there were no hazardous materials aboard any of the derailed cars.

New York State Police say the train was carrying about 100 cars.

The train was operated by the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway Corporation.

That company's chief investigator is examining what caused the accident.
