1 FEMALE DRIVER DEAD WHEN HER 2009 MERCEDES SEDAN HIT A 2003 MACK DUMP TRUCK THAT WAS BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY NEAR ROCKY POINT, LONG ISLAND

Emergency responders on Long Island sawed off the roof and doors of a Mercedes-Benz to free critically ­injured driver Michelle McDonald, 29, after she collided with a trash-hauling truck early Friday.

McDonald, the mom of a 3-year-old boy, was alone in the car when the collision took place at about 6 a.m. near her home in Rocky Point.

Suffolk County police said Michelle McDonald was driving a 2009 Mercedes sedan eastbound on Route 25A when her vehicle collided with a 2003 Mack dump truck that was backing out of a driveway at 6 a.m.

The victim was taken to John T. Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, where she was pronounced dead.

The truck driver, 43-year-old Brad Parnell of South Setauket, was not injured.
Motor Carrier Safety Section officers inspected the truck and impounded the Mercedes.

Seventh Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on the crash to call them at 631-852-8752.
