FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19)

Fairfield police are investigating a fiery fatal crash that happened on Winton Road late Tuesday night.

Officials say they responded to an injury accident at around 11:19 p.m. between Mack Road and Skydale Drive.

According to Fairfield police, upon arriving to the scene they saw a white 2006 Infinity M35 fully engulfed in flames with an occupant in the driver's seat. The driver was found deceased after the Fairfield Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a blue 2015 Jeep Cherokee was going southbound on Winton Road with a black 1995 Toyota Camry and the Infinity M35 going northbound. The Infinity M35 was traveling at a high rate of speed and passed the Camry on a double yellow line and the driver of the Infinity M35 lost control of the vehicle and struck the Jeep Cherokee head-on.

The Jeep Cherokee spun into the northbound lane and was struck in the side by the Camry.  The Infinity M35 went off the west side of the road and struck a utility pole, immediately engulfing in flames.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was transported to Mercy Hospital by life squad for non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

Authorities say the driver of the Infinity M35 was transported to the morgue by the Butler County Coroner's office. The identity of either victim is unknown at this time.

The crash is still under investigation.
