ESCONDIDO, CALIFORNIA

A construction worker died Friday after falling through a floor at a worksite in Escondido, authorities said.

The 44-year-old Tijuana man, whose name was not released, was found injured about 10 a.m. by a co-worker who’d arrived at the building on Spruce Street near Norlak Avenue, officials said.

It appears the man fell through the second-floor joists, or support beams, 15 to 20 feet to the first floor, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

He was unresponsive and bleeding from his head. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

No further information was released.
