THE DANGEROUS TRUCK FUEL TANKS: 200 GALLONS OF SPILLED FUEL FROM A TRUCK CAUSES 12 CRASHES IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA

TULSA, OKLAHOMA

Two northbound lanes, and the exit onto Pine Street, reopened on Highway 75 after an apparent fuel spill caused a Tulsa police officer and nearly a dozen other motorists to crash Tuesday afternoon.

Crews hope to have the other lanes open within the hour. But Peoria exit will be closed longer. @KJRH2HD

The accident occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. on northbound Highway 75 just south of Pine.

Authorities on the scene said a truck had just spilled fuel all over the highway prior to the accident.  The truck stopped a short distance away.

Police say the officer involved in the crash is being taken to a nearby hospital due to soreness from the wreck and another man was transported to the hospital. 

The big rig fuel tanks are very, very dangerous for people’s safety and the environment.  Millions of gallons of oil are being spilled every year from leaks, spills and/or crashes of these fuel tanks.  Urgent safety upgrade of these tanks is needed.
