INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA

A school bus crashed on the southeast side of Indianapolis Tuesday morning.

Smoke was seen coming from the Franklin Township school bus after it crashed in the 6600 block of Mimosa Lane, which is near Acton Road and I-74, according to Indianapolis Metropolitan police dispatchers. It happened around 7:30 a.m.

School officials believe the bus hit a lip on the side of the road and then lost control before sliding into a ditch.

According to the school, nine high school students and a driver were on the bus.
Everyone was evacuated with only minor injuries reported. The driver was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
