GRAIN TRAIN TRIPS FROM THE RAIL TRACKS IN WICHITA, KANSAS. THERE GOES OUR BREAD AND CEREAL.

APRIL 2, 2015

WICHITA, KANSAS

Crews are on the scene of a train derailment north of downtown Wichita.

Crews were called to the tracks along Santa Fe between 13th and 21st Street shortly after 5:00 Thursday morning.

Three train cars tipped on their sides.  The overturned cars are grain cars and were not carrying hazardous materials.

There are no reports of injuries.

Roads were closed for several hours, but reporter Hannah Davis says it appears traffic is back to normal.

No word yet on what caused the derailment.  Displaced load could be one of the reasons for the tipping over of the rail cars.

Trains are safe.  All aboard.
