Coast Guard medevacs tanker crewmember 150 miles south of San Diego

SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 47-year-old man from a tanker vessel approximately 150 miles south of San Diego, Monday.

At approximately 2 a.m., Monday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego received a notification from the crew of the Hong Kong-flagged liquified petroleum gas tanker Touraine, that a crewmember was suffering from possible kidney stones, and were requesting assistance.

A Sector MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched, arrived on scene and safely hoisted the crewmember.

The Jayhawk crew returned to Sector San Diego where he was transferred to awaiting EMS.

He was taken to UCSD Medical Center in stable condition.
The Taurine is en route to Panama.
