Coast Guard medevacs fisherman near Point Au Fer Island


The crew of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans was dispatched approximately eight miles offshore Point Au Fer Island to medevac a fisherman who had been reportedly suffering from seizures, April 21, 2015. Once on scene, the helicopter crew hoisted the man aboard and flew him to Air Station New Orleans to awaiting EMS. The man was then transported to Ochsner Medical Center- West Bank Campus. NEW ORLEANS – A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew medevaced a man from a fishing boat eight miles offshore of Point Au Fer Island, at around 3:10 p.m., Tuesday.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector New Orleans command center launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to medevac a fisherman who had been reportedly suffering from seizures.

Once on scene, the helicopter crew hoisted the man aboard and flew him to Air Station New Orleans to awaiting EMS. The man was then transported to Ochsner Medical Center- West Bank Campus.
