Coast Guard medevacs ailing 30-year-old from vessel off San Diego




The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 30-year-old man from a passenger vessel approximately 62 miles west of San Diego, April 17, 2015. At approximately 3:22 p.m., the crew of the 32-foot Intimidator requested assistance from Coast Guard Sector San Diego for a man who was suffering from possible kidney stones.

SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 30-year-old man from a passenger vessel approximately 62 miles west of San Diego, Saturday.

At approximately 3:22 p.m., the crew of the 32-foot Intimidator requested assistance from Coast Guard Sector San Diego for a man who was suffering from possible kidney stones.

A Sector MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched and safely hoisted the man once on scene.

At approximately 6:25 p.m., the helicopter arrived at Sector San Diego and transferred the ailing man to awaiting EMS.

He was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego for further treatment.
