WETUMPKA, ALABAMA

A 76-year-old pilot is expected to recover after he was injured in a crash at Wetumpka Municipal Airport.

Dan Power of Millbrook suffered non-life threatening injuries in the accident Friday.  Power was airlifted to a Montgomery hospital after the crash and expected to make a full recovery, the sheriff said.

The Montgomery Advertiser reports the Beechcraft was trying to land around 7:30 p.m. when it clipped several trees. Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin said the plane crash upside-down short of the runway, inside the fenced in area of the airport.

Power was the only person in the plane.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the cause of the crash.
