DEBARY, FLORIDA

The Volusia County Hazmat Team has responded to DeBary after a truck flipped over and spilled chemicals onto the roadway, dispatchers said.

The incident occurred on Dirksen Drive near Mansion Boulevard at about 2:45 p.m. Friday, dispatchers said.

Chris Johnson, who serves as the fire chief in DeBary and Orange City, said the chemicals that spilled were primarily corrosives and oxidizers.

He estimated 2,000 to 2,500 gallons of chemicals spill from containers that were being carried by the truck.

Johnson said no injuries had been reported, but the roadway may be closed for several hours while crews clean up the area.
