ROCHESTER, MINN. (KTTC)

A 30-year-old construction worker was killed on Friday when a large metal attachment from a forklift fell on his head.

The man, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of his family, was underneath a telescopic forklift when a "very large attachment" fell from the arm of the lift. The accident occurred around 12:30 Friday afternoon at the corner of Maine Avenue SE and St. Bridgets Road SE, where a hotel project is underway.

OSHA, Rochester Police, and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene on Friday to investigate, and Mayo Clinic will be performing an autopsy.

"It's under investigation, but we believe it's a crushing type of an injury, some sort of head trauma, that led to his death," said Lt. Jeff Stillwell of the Rochester Police Department.
