ICE PIERCES THE FUEL TANK OF SEMI TRUCK, CAUSING 100 DIESEL SPILL IN AMHERST, NEW YORK

FEBRUARY 2, 2015

AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW)

Crews had to clean up nearly 100 gallons of diesel fuel after a spill in Amherst.
Authorities originally believed ice fell from the ceiling onto a semi parked at the loading dock of Kohl’s on Transit Road and pierced its holding tank. But later first responders determined the driver hit something as he was pulling his rig into the parking lot.

Around 100 gallons of fuel spilled. Fire crews had to use 50 bags of oil absorbent clay to soak up the diesel.

The State Department of Environmental Conservation spearheaded the cleanup efforts.
