VICTORIA, TEXAS

A 46-year-old truck driver was taken to a Victoria hospital after being injured Tuesday morning in a collision on U.S. Highway 59.

The driver, whose name and hometown were not immediately available, suffered non-life threatening injuries, said Victoria police Sgt. Adam Nieto.

The crash involving two tractor-trailers occurred about 7:10 a.m. in the 7100 block of U.S. Highway 59.

One tractor-trailer was entering the highway from a private driveway and crossed the path of another.

One truck was hauling frozen boxes of chicken and the other was hauling pipes. The impact caused the cargo to spill across the highway.

The cab of one of the tractor-trailers was smashed and the front of the trailer was torn off.

Traffic was backed up in both directions on the highway.

The Texas Department of Transportation also responded to the crash to help clear the roads.
