Canada's TSB deploys a team to Campbell River, British Columbia, to investigate an incident involving the landing craft Lasqueti Daughters. The landing craft sank in the Georgia Strait near Vancouver Island while 16 people were on board

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is deploying a team of investigators to Campbell River, British Columbia, to investigate an incident involving the landing craft Lasqueti Daughters

The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.

Transportation investigators to probe landing craft sinking off Vancouver Island

CAMPBELL RIVER - The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating after a landing craft sank in the Georgia Strait near Vancouver Island.

Spokesman Dave Paddon says the landing craft, named Lasqueti Daughters, took on water and and began sinking while 16 people were aboard on Saturday.
A rescue operation ensued and none of the passengers were hurt.

The ship was salvaged and towed to Campbell River.

Paddon says the board is sending a team of investigators to gather information and assess the incident.

The independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation incidents does not assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
