ANOTHER EMS WORKER IS CRASHED TO DEATH: COAL TRUCK CAME AROUND A CURVE ON AN ICY ROAD AND ESSENTIALLY RAN THROUGH THE ACCIDENT SCENE CRASHING THE PM TO DEATH

UPPER YODER TOWNSHIP, CAMBRIA COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

We regret to pass on to you that a Paramedic was killed in the Line of Duty while operating at the scene of a crash in Cambria County on Route 271.

It happened along Menoher Boulevard in Upper Yoder Township.  The township borders Johnstown, about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh.

38-year-old West End Ambulance Paramedic Janice Livingston, of Johnstown was working the scene after two earlier crashes when a coal truck came around a curve on an icy road and essentially ran through the crash scene---PM Livingston died of multiple traumatic injuries.

Apparently there were three different crashes, and in the third one, Paramedic Livingston was killed in the Line of Duty when a coal truck slammed into her.

The accidents involved several other vehicles, including a FedEx truck.

A man who said he saw the crash said he was stopped behind a school bus when an oncoming Jeep lost control, and “all hell broke loose.” He said there were vehicles crashing everywhere. While it’s still not clear what happened, no school buses were involved. One car appears to have crashed head-on into a utility pole, which is snapped in half and on top of the windshield of a FedEx truck. A coal truck crashed into some trees, and the majority of emergency crews and the coroner are in that area.

We'll post more as it becomes available.  Our condolences to all affected. RIP.
