A dark-colored car struck the side of a restaurant in the 15000 block of Valley Boulevard around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Stonich said.  The restaurant was believed to be closed at the time of the crash.

The driver became trapped and died at the scene, Sgt. Taylor said.

The car struck a gas line, causing a leak, Stonich said.
