2 KILLED, 1 CRITICALLY INJURED WHEN A TIRE BLOW-OUT ON I-40 WEST OF SANTA ROSA, NM

GUADALUPE COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) 

A tire blow-out caused a fatal crash on I-40 west of Santa Rosa overnight.

Police say a 1997 Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound around 1 a.m. near mile marker 248 when the tire blew, causing the vehicle to veer into the median and roll.

Passengers not wearing seat belts were ejected from the vehicle. Chelsea Lawson, 29, and Natasha Siegel, 6, of Scotts Valley, Calif., were killed in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle, Aaron Siegel, was wearing his seat belt and survived with critical injuries. Siegel, 40, also of Scotts Valley, was airlifted to UNM Hospital.

Police will continue to investigate the crash.
