ONE PERSON INJURED IN PICKUP TRUCK ROLLOVER ON RTE. 15 IN MERIDEN, CONNECTICUT. HIGH SPEED WAS THE MAIN FACTOR IN THE CRASH

MERIDEN, CONNECTICUT

A pickup truck rolled over Friday afternoon on Route 15 south, near exit 17. One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, state police said.  The truck was speeding and it hit the snowbank and became airborne, rolling over into the embankment.

The roof of the vehicle and the passenger side door were removed, most likely by emergency crews.

Traffic began backing up on Route 15 shortly after 4 p.m. when the accident occurred. Interstate 691 east also experienced a spillover delay in the vicinity of exit 10, where it merges with Route 15. The Department of Transportation information map showed traffic backed up past on Interstate 91 south past exit 20 in Middletown. 

Both lanes of Route 15 were closed while wreckers while wreckers removed the truck.

The fire department responded to the crash, along with state police.
