An Independence, Indiana home was destroyed by a fire Monday afternoon.

The Pine Village Fire Department received the call around 11:40 a.m. at the 7800 block of fourth street in Independence.

Shortly after, Attica and West Point Fire Departments were also called to assist in battling the fire.

Firefighters faced an additional hazard fighting the flames today as the owner of the home had ammunition inside.

Though it took nearly 3 hours to put out the fire, no one was injured.

According to the Pine Village Fire Department, the fire started from a heater.
Firefighters says prior to the fire, the homeowner was dealing with frozen pipes and was using a heater to thaw them out.
