UPDATE: Driver remains in hospital after Jan. 19 fiery crash on State Route 303 in Boston Heights, Ohio between a semi truck and an SUV.

Boston Heights — A Tallmadge man who was involved in a Jan. 19 accident on State Route 303, just west of State Route 8, remains in the hospital with “moderate injuries” which do not appear to be life threatening, according to police.

Shortly before 2 p.m. an SUV driven by a Tallmadge man was travelling east on state Route 303 between state Route 8 and Akron-Penninsula Road when it swerved into oncoming traffic, colliding with a semi truck driven by a Florida man, according to Boston Heights Police Officer Dan Davis. The semi caught fire after the collision, but the driver was not injured.  The road was closed until about 4:30 p.m. while the fire was put out by firefighters from Valley Fire. The driver of the SUV, who was wearing his seat belt, was transported to Akron City Hospital.

The accident is under investigation and no further information is available at this time.

Boston Heights police department, Peninsula Police Department and Valley Fire responded to an accident on state Route 303 near Akron Peninsula Road at 2:06 p.m. Monday afternoon involving a semi truck that is on fire and another vehicle, according to Richfied police tweets @RichfieldPolice.

Because of the accident state Route 303  between state Route 8 and Akron Peninsula Road was closed until 4:30 p.m. according to an Ohio Department of Transportation email sent Monday afternoon.
