JIM WELLS COUNTY (Kiii News) - Three people, including a small child, were killed Wednesday in a head-on collision between an 18-wheeler and a passenger vehicle on Highway 141, near U.S. 281 in Jim Wells County.
It happened just after 1:30 p.m. Authorities said a small black passenger car was traveling west on Highway 141 when it veered into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason, colliding with an 18-wheeler.

Two female passengers and a small child were killed in the crash.

"Be careful in these types of conditions. You've got to be focused on your driving at all times, because you never know from one second to the next what can happen," said Corporal Charlie Ramirez of the Department of Public Safety.

Officials said that wet roads and limited visibility may have played a factor in the accident, but they are still trying to determine why the car drifted into oncoming traffic.
