TWO PEOPLE DIED WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON IN A HEAD-ON CRASH ON ROUTE 286 IN CENTER TOWNSHIP, INDIANA





Two people died Wednesday afternoon in a head-on crash on Route 286 in Center Township, according to Aultman fire officials .




Emergency responders were dispatched just after 12:30 p.m. to a report of a traffic accident on Route 286 southwest of Indiana, in the area of Anthony Road in Center Township.
The Homer Center, Aultman and Indiana fire departments and Citizens’ Ambulance Service were dispatched along with state police.




Rescuers worked to free two people trapped in two vehicles on the highway, Indiana fire officials reported on Facebook. A witness at the scene said there were three occupants in one vehicle and one in the other.




The Indiana fire department has been sent to mark a landing zone for medical helicopters, the Indiana County 911 center reported.




Indiana Fire Association reported on Facebook that the highway has been closed, and asked motorists to avoid the area.
