TWO 500 GALLON PROPANE TANKS AND AN OIL TANK CAUGHT FIRE IN RIO ARRIBA COUNTY, N.M.



RIO ARRIBA COUNTY, N.M. —Officials closed U.S. 550 in both directions Thursday after two 500 gallon propane tanks and an oil tank caught fire.

Northbound traffic was stopped at mile marker 101 and southbound traffic was stopped at mile marker 105.

The highway has since reopened.

Hazmat crews were at the scene, and at one point the fire was too hot for crews to approach it.
