TRACTOR-TRAILER DRIVER DIES AFTER THE TRUCK WENT OFF THE ROAD AND STRUCK A GUARDRAIL ON ROUTE 58 IN VIRGINIA

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A driver of a tractor-trailer is dead after the truck went off the road and struck a guardrail along Holland Road/Route 58.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue and Suffolk Police responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident in the 5600 Block of Holland Road/Route 58, around 11:45 p.m. Monday.

The driver was identified as 46-year-old Jonathan Lee Wilson of Portsmouth. Police say following the accident, Wilson collapsed while talking with officers. He was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital where he later died.

Two lanes of westbound Holland Road/Route 58 and one lane of eastbound Holland Road/Route 58 were closed for a period of time but were re-opened shortly after 6 a.m.
The accident remains under investigation.
