A fire in Holualoa on Hawaii Island took the lives of two boys.

Hawaii Island officers responded to the residential fire at 1:56 a.m., Jan. 29, on the 76-5200 block of Old Mamalahoa Highway.

When they arrived, the one-story house was fully engulfed in flames. Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire. 

Two adults and two children were able to exit the house. Two other children, tentatively identified as an 11-year-old boy and a 6-year-old boy, died in the fire.

Their identities are being withheld pending positive identification. 

Hawaii Island police and fire department personnel are jointly investigating the cause of the fire. 

Police do no suspect foul play. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
