SALEM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Oregon State Police troopers are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of a semi-truck they believe was involved in a fatal crash on the I-5 early Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred when the driver of a silver Lexus allegedly rear-ended a semi-truck while traveling southbound on I-5 near milepost 253, which was an active construction zone at the time. The driver of the Lexus, identified as 40-year-old Salem resident Vicente Plagcencia, died at the scene.

Police believe the driver of the semi may not have known he was hit, and that is why he failed to stop.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Trooper Eli Breen at 503.375.3555
