NUMEROUS TRUCK AND CAR CRASHES IN VIRGINIA. STORM SLICKENS VA. ROADS, TROOPERS SENT TO 500 WRECKS





RICHMOND, VIRGINIA

Police have been working numerous crashes (85 as of 8:00 a.m.) on Interstates 64, 95,  288, 295 and 85 due to icy road conditions.

Chesterfield Police said that they have responded to 56 crashes since 3:00 a.m.
Virginia State Police report 344 wrecks across the state due to roads slickened by a winter storm.

State police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says most of the crashes did not involve injuries, but troopers are investigating one fatal crash that happened about 2 a.m. on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie County. 

More than 160 of the crashes occurred in the Richmond metro area.

In the Chesapeake Division, troopers were called to 42 crashes. 

The Appomattox Division reported 77 crashes, while the Salem Division had 40.
