MULTIPLE TRUCK COLLISION ACCIDENT ON VERRAZANO-NARROWS BRIDGE IN NEW YORK

Update: Stopped traffic with an estimated delay of 54 minutes is reported on the Staten Island Expressway Brooklyn-bound between Bradley Avenue the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge as of about 9 a.m., according to WCBS 880.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- All of the lanes on the upper level of the Verrzano-Narrows Bridge Brooklyn-bound have been closed because of an accident involving up to five trucks during the Wednesday morning rush hour.

A collision involving multiple trucks has occurred on the upper level of the span eastbound and is causing delays, according to the MTA.

Traffic is backing up onto the Staten Island Expressway eastbound as of 9 a.m. 

All traffic is being diverted onto the lower-level of the span, according to police radio transmissions.
