TUPELO, Miss. — A 65-year-old woman has died in a fire at her home in Tupelo.
Tupelo Fire Investigator Jason Cross says firefighters responded around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to the fire.

Cross says the fire was small and contained to a single room, but there was a lot of heavy smoke.

Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green says 65-year-old Dorothy Carolyn Allen was pronounced dead at 12:13 p.m. at the North Mississippi Medical Center.

Cross tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/1vxxan3 ) the fire and the death have been ruled an accident.

He says the fire started around a kerosene heater that was being used to heat the house.
