DADE COUNTY, GA (WRCB) Dade County Deputies confirm both lanes on Interstate 24 near mile marker 165 are shut down, following an early morning crash involving an 18 wheeler, Saturday morning.

Officials say the truck traveling East bound, is flipped over the guardrail down on its side into the embankment. Deputies say the crash happened near a sharp curve just before Tennessee state lines, around 12:30 a.m.  The truck was occupied by two people, officials say one person has been taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The other occupant is said to be okay. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, although speed and/or shifting load appear to be the leading cause(s).

Deputies say the crashed truck weighs about 80,000 pounds. There are no reports of anything being spilled across the roadway at this time. Officials estimate the closure to last several hours as crews work to clear the roadway, they say drivers should try to find alternate routes.
