HOPKINTON, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts State Police say a Rhode Island man has died after his car went out of control on northbound Interstate 495 west of Boston and was hit by a truck. Police have not said that the 1:40 p.m. Saturday accident was weather-related but about 5 inches of snow had fallen in the area.

Police said the 48-year-old Makthra Men of Cranston was driving a 2008 Hyundai sedan in the middle lane when it went out of control and struck the left and right guardrails just north of Exit 21 in Hopkinton.

Police said the driver of a tractor-trailer behind the man tried slow down but struck his car.
The Hyundai driver was pronounced dead at a hospital. The truck driver, a 33-year-old Northborough man, wasn’t injured.

The left two lanes of the highway were closed for several hours.

With the upcoming major blizzard in the Northeast, we want to remind our fellow citizens that you need to be extra careful driving on wet, sleek, icy or snowy roads.  The alternative may very well be not to be able to drive again.
