FOREST GROVE, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A driver whose identity is not known was critically hurt after allegedly speeding away from police and crashing early Thursday morning in Forest Grove.

Police first began getting calls about a speeding white Ford pickup around 21st Place and D Street around 11:15 p.m., authorities said. The truck wasn’t seen, but another call shortly before midnight reported the same thing.

A Forest Grove officer saw the truck blow through a stop sign on D Street near 23rd and then sped away at more than 70 mph. Police stopped the pursuit for safety reasons.

Around 25 minutes later, a crash was reported at Gales Creek Road and Owl Drive. Officer arrived and found the pickup in a creek and the driver face down in the road.

He was airlifted to an area hospital and is in critical condition.
